The Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization (LCWE) was established at the 1974 International Congress of World Evangelization. The documents listed below derive from the
numerous conferences and consultations convened by the LCWE.
Additional documents can be found on the LCWE webpage.
- Lausanne
Covenant (1974)
A document prepared by the International Congress on
World Evangelization convened in Lausanne, Switzerland by the
Lausanne Committee for World Evangelism
(LCWE). Considered the charter document of inter-denominational cooperation in Evangelical
circles. Specifically addressed towards mission, it also includes a comprehensive
Christological statement of faith. [Bahasa Indonesia,

- Transformation:
The Church in Response to Human Need (1983)
"The Consultation on the Church in Response to Human Need met in
Wheaton, Illinois, in June 1983 as the third track of a larger conference sponsored by the
World Evangelical Fellowship
under the title "I Will Build My Church."
the statement
"Transformation: The Church in Response to Human Need," which was produced as an
outgrowth of the consultation
does not attempt to be a comprehensive statement of
the whole counsel of God on the issues of development, but it reflects the thoughts of the
participants at the consultation as they were expressed and modified in the papers and
discussion that followed." [English only]
- Manila
Manifesto / Le Manifeste de Manile (1989)
"The Manila Manifesto is an elaboration of the Lausanne
Covenant fifteen years later. The participants in Lausanne II, the Second
International Congress on World Evangelization, in Manila in the Philippines in July 1989
deliberated on the prospects for the fulfillment of the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus
Christ. The subject was looked at from every conceivable angle with an attempt to be true
to the Holy Scriptures in the analysis. The results were summarized in The Manila
Manifesto. Its second draft was submitted to all the participants. They made many comments
and suggestions, which were carefully considered in the preparation of the final document.
The following motion was then put to the whole Congress in plenary session: "We
accept the Manila Manifesto as an expression, in general terms, of our concerns and
commitments, and we commend it to ourselves, to churches and to Christian organizations
for further study and response". This motion passed by an overwhelming
majority." [Dansk,

- Statement
on Spiritual Warfare (1993)
"The Intercession Working Group (IWG) of the Lausanne Committee for World
Evangelization met at Fairmile Court in London July 10-14, 1993. We discussed for one full
day the subject of spiritual warfare. It had been noted at our IWG Prayer Leaders' Retreat
at The Cove in North Carolina, USA, the previous November, that spiritual warfare was a
subject of some concern in the evangelical world. The IWG asked its members to write
papers reflecting on this emphasis in each of their regions and these papers formed the
basis of our discussion." (from the website) [English only]
- Living
Word for a Dying World (1994)
The members of the Forum for Bible Agencies and some 200 church
leaders from 60 countries discussed the question of how to bring the Bible back on center
stage in the life of the church, in mission and evangelism. The consultation, "Living
Word for a Dying World" was held in Dalfsen, Holland 20-25 April, 1994. [English

- Statement
to the Churches on Nominality (1998)
Lausanne International Consultation on Nominalism (High Leigh,
Hoddesdon, U.K., December 1998)
"In December 1998, 65 men and women from 15 countries and all six continents met to
discuss ministry in relation to nominality among people who identify themselves as
Christians. Those gathered represented a wide range of denominations and traditions. They
shared a common concern about the challenges in pastoral care and evangelisation posed by
nominal Christianity." [English only]

Deliver
Us from Evil: Consultation Statement on Spiritual Warfare (2000)
"Spiritual conflict is an emerging, yet uneasy, frontier in
taking the whole gospel to the whole world. Enthusiasm and concern rest side by side.
Trying to come to grips with the many complex issues, thirty practitioners, missiologists,
pastors and theologians gathered in Nairobi, Kenya from 16 to 22 August, 2000. Together we
discussed issues of spiritual conflict in a consultation, "Deliver Us From
Evil," convened by the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization and the
Association of Evangelicals in Africa. The consultation objective was to seek a biblical
and comprehensive understanding of 1) who the enemy is; 2) how he is working; and 3) how
we can fight him in order to be most effective in the evangelization of all
peoples." [Dansk, English, Português]

- 1980 Consultation on World Evangelization (Pattaya, Thailand)
Lausanne Occasional Papers nos. 5-19, 22-23
derive from the mini-consultations held in Pattaya in 1980. The COWE divided for five of its ten days into seventeen 'mini-consultations'. These focused on how to reach particular peoples for Christ. Each produced a report, which was published as a 'Lausanne Occasional Paper' (LOP). The major part of each report went through a draft and a revised draft, which involved all members of the mini-consultation. It was also submitted to a wider "sub-plenary" group for comment, but the responsibility for the final text rests with the mini-consultation and its chairman. The documents are highly valuable and informative report of the mini-consultations. They are released with the prayer and hope that
they will stimulate the church and individual members in reaching large segments of the population.
